I first tasted Six Threes Ice Cream as a twelve year old. As a pre-teen who had sleepovers with 5-10 friends packed into my basement each weekend, my stepdad’s ice cream was a welcome gourmet addition to our dinner of Lay’s Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips and marshmallows for chubby bunny games.

But the fruity flavor isn't just for kids. Fast forward to the eve of my wedding, this Six Threes Ice Cream kept friends and family feeling Southern California sunshine vibes, despite the freezing rains dumping on our rehearsal dinner barbecue. My family still loves to tell the story of one of my sorority sisters talking about the “healthy” ice cream. Bless her heart, I think she misunderstood the fruit component as a healthy sherbet. Although the cream outweighs the health benefits of the fruits, I promise it is worth it.

If you weren't blessed with an ice cream maker on your wedding registry, and you want to try your hand (literally) at homemade slow churn, then I suggest you don't tell anyone else about your dessert creation because after all that work you will deserve to eat all the ice cream yourself!

If you are wondering about the name, check out the simple ingredient list and you can commit the recipe to memory.

Combine the following and churn in an ice cream freezer:

3 C heavy cream 3 C milk 3 C sugar juice of three lemons juice of three oranges three ripe bananas, mashed *substitute 6 C half and half for cream and milk if desired
